Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur
- 1 package ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Custard
In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended. Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil gently for 1 minute, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Precaution: Stir constantly to prevent the mixture from curdling.
Step 2: Whip the Cream
In a medium bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat mascarpone cheese until smooth.
Timing: This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Step 3: Combine Ingredients
Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined. Fold the cooled custard into the mascarpone mixture until smooth.

Step 4: Assemble the Tiramisu
Combine espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger into the mixture for about 1-2 seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a trifle dish.

Step 5: Layer the Ingredients
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, followed by another layer of soaked ladyfingers, and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Step 6: Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
